Candidate Stewart Spends First Campaign Dollar

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. Senate Candidate Stewart Finally Spends His First Campaign Dollar

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - July 21, 2014 - Iowa businesman Rick Stewart, preparing to ride his bicycle across Iowa with RAGBRAI, finally loosened the locks on his $5,000 campaign chest.

"I hope it is not a slippery slope," said Stewart, "but so many voters without Internet access to my website www.rickstewart.com are asking me for more information about my campaign I felt justified in spending a few hundred dollars to put something in print. The good news is I managed to squeeze more important information for voters onto my postcard sized flyer than my opponents have squeezed into $5.8 million of vacuous radio and television commercials."

Stewart's flyer lists 99 reasons to vote for him in November. Some of them appear to be tongue in cheek ('He digs his own dandelions'), but many of them refer to Stewart's strong policy stances. He is firmly against the War on Drugs, as well as agricultural subsidies, a gutsy position to take in a state like Iowa, where he is expected to be the only candidate speaking so bluntly.

"I have listened to thousands of Iowa voters, and have yet to meet one who believes ag subsidies are good for Iowa," he claims. "Everyone I speak to agrees welfare checks for farmers are a relic of the past, completely inappropriate in today's world."

Stewart is riding his mountain bike to all 99 Iowa counties, introducing himself personally to Iowa voters. "I have twice as much time to campaign as any other candidate," he says, "because I don't have to waste any of it raising money. Every Iowa voter will know who I am in November. Every Iowa voter will know I am the smart choice for Iowa."
