Rick's thoughts:

Let's get one thing straight.

Everybody needs health care. Nobody needs health insurance.

They are not the same thing! Grrr ... can't believe the media can't get that straight ...

There is a lot of health care in the United States (maybe too much). And there is lots of health insurance (maybe not enough).

It's complicated.

It's also boring, for most of us. There was a great article in the Journal of Economic Perspectives back in 1993. It's a good place to start your research, because it reminds us not all that much has changed in the last 21 years.

The short story - we have the best health care in the world (read Scott Atlas). That's the good And we pay twice as much for it as anybody else does (see chart on page 155). That's the bad.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time ... OK let's dive into health care and health insurance. I've written my observations on Medicaid, Medicare, Obamacare and VA hospitals. Please read them, and join the discussion.
